1 NPA killed, 1 Wounded, High Powered Firearms Recovered

CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City - One NPA was killed, one wounded and high powered firearms recovered in a separate encounter in Sorsogon.

In a report received by Maj. Gen Roy Kyamko, SOLCOM chief from BGen. Santiago Prejido, Commanding General, 9th Infantry (Orgullo) Brigade (Separate) at around 9:30 in the morning of January 27, 2003, elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion led by Sgt Pelomeno G. Bacuyo Jr., encountered more or less six (6) fully armed group of communist terrorist at Sitio Lubas, Bgy San Rafael, Bulusan, Sorsogon. The firefight lasted for about twenty five (25) minutes after which the enemy withdrew heading towards Bgy San Francisco of same municipality.

No reported casualty on the government side, while undetermined to the enemy as evidence of the bloodstain along the route of withdrawal. The encounter resulted to the killing of one (1) unidentified communist terrorist. The government troops recovered one (1) Cal. 5.56 MM M16 Rifle serial number RP14643, one (1) Cal. 7.62MM M14 Rifle with serial number 1108601, one(1) bandoleer with four (4) magazines for M14 Rifle with live ammunitions, one (1) bandoleer with six (6) magazines with ammunition for M16 Rifle and five (5) jungle packs containing personal belongings and subversive documents.

In other reports reaching SOLCOM, on 7:00 o’clock in the morning of January 27, 2003, another encounter happened between the elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army and the communist terrorist at Sitio Bantaron, Bgy Bonga, Castilla, Sorsogon resulting to the wounding and captured of one (1) unidentified NPA member and the recovery of one (1) Ingram machine pistol with sixteen (16) live ammunition.

The government troops are conducting pursuit operations to fleeing communist terrorist. Maj Gen Roy V Kyamko, SOLCOM Chief commended the members of the operating team for their heroic achievement fighting against ruthless CPP/NPA. (2nd CRG,CRSAFP)
