Cash prizes totalling P600,000.00 will be up for grabs in the mountain bike race Tour of Camarines Sur 2003 which is slated to be held for four days from May 23 to 26 within the week that the province is celebrating its 424th foundation anniversary.
The cash prizes have been increased by at least P150,000.00 over the previous year but participants will go through a gruelling 4-day race over a new 431 kilometer route that will cover many towns and barangays that had not witnessed the exciting contest since it was launched in 1998.
Governor Luis R. Villafuerte said the new route is in response to the clamor of constituents who want to be part of the exciting contest since it was launched in 1998.
More than 300 cyclists have been joining each year in the sports-tourism event since 1998, two thirds of them from all provinces and cities in Bicol and the rest from Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
Registration will start at the Camarines Sur provincial capitol Friday, February 14 and wind up one month later on March 14. As in the previous years, no registration fees will be charged but registrants will go through a rigid medical examination.
They will also be asked to bring with them their resi dence certificates and bustsize photos. No registration by fax or mail be honored.
Tour of Camarines Sur 2003 will be mainly co-hosted by the Camarines Sur provincial government and multi-awarded young businessman L-Ray Villafuerte.
