CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City - A communist terrorist was killed in clashed with government troops in Sitio Taisan, Brgy. Gangao, Baleno, Masbate on January 26, 2003 at around 5:30 in the morning.

In a report to MGen. Roy V. Kyamko, AFP, SOLCOM chief from Col Pedrito Magsino, Commanding Officer, 901st Infantry Brigade that the elements of 1st Masbate CAA company led by Sgt. Ubay while conducting combat operation encountered an undetermined number of dissident terrorists in Sitio Taisan, Brgy. Gangao, Baleno, Masbate. Firefight ensued and lasted for about an hour and the enemy withdrew in different directions.

The encounter resulted to the killing of one unidentified communist terrorist, and the recovery of one caliber .38 revolver with defaced serial number, one back pack containing personal belongings and subversive documents. One member of the 1st Masbate CAA named CAA Rey C. Ra was killed in the said encounter.

Col. Magsino said that the encounter was a meeting engagement after the residents tipped off the presence of the rebel in the said barangay.

Meanwhile, the remains of unidentified communist terrorist was turned over to authorities in MPS Masbate for proper disposition and identification, while the body of the killed CAA Rey C. Ra was turned over to the bereaved family.

Pursuit operations of the fleeing dissident terrorists are now being conducted by the government troops. (2nd CRG, CRSAFP)
