More Land Distributed By DAR In Bicol

Legazpi City - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said it has distributed some 11,106.94 hectares of land in Bicol from January to December last year.

Lawyer Nestor Acosta, DAR Bicol regional director, said that the 11,106.94 hectares distributed represent a 97.28 per cent accomplishment based on the agency target of 11,418 hectares for distribution under the CARP.

The province with the highest number of private agricultural lands distributed is Camarines Sur with a total of 4,074.15 hectares, followed by Masbate at 2,044 hectares, Albay - 2,030.29, Camarines Norte - 1,485.46, Sorsogon -1105.64 and Catanduanes- 10.63 hectares.

Camarines Sur likewise topped in the total number of non-agricultural lands distributed at 4,429.39 followed by Masbate - 2,045.52, Albay - 2,030.29, Camarines Norte - 1,485.46, Sorsogon - 1,1105.64 and Catanduanes - 10.63 hectares.

Acosta said the agency pursues various schemes of land distribution for private agricultural lands such as operation land transfer, government finance institution, voluntary offer to sell, compulsory acquisition, voluntary land transfer. Under the non-private land ditribution scheme are government owned lands, settlements and landed estates

A total of 494.79 hectares or 4.45 per cent of the total land distributed were under operation land transfer - 79.62 hectares at 0.72 per cent under government finance institution, 2,974.07 hectares or 26.78 per cent under voluntary offer to sell, 3,721.04 hectares or 33.50 per cent under compulsory acquisition and 3,481.60 or 31.35 per cent under voluntary land transfer.

Under the non-private land distribution scheme, a total of 277.18 hectares or 2.50 per cent of the total land distributed were under the category of government owned lands and 78.62 hectares or 0.71 per cent under settlements.
