Police nabbed last Friday the suspect in the rape-slay of 5-year-old Jomen Gaza in barangay Sto Domingo, Bombon, Camarines Sur.

The suspect was identified as Pedro PerilIa, 49, and a neighbor of the Gaza family in the barangay.

The young girl was found dead in a muddy creek a few meters away from her house. A police report said that she had been raped. Police would not furnish details on the arrest of Perilla, only that a request for the transfer of the suspect from the Bombon town jail to the BJMP district jail in the city had been forwarded to appropriate authorities.

A case for rape with homicide has already been filed reportedly by the Bombon police with the municipal trial court in the town.
